In the heart of the Côtes du Rhône Provençales, Domaine Le Garrigon passionately cultivates authentic organic wines, reflecting its terroir bathed in sunshine and the mistral wind. Between Provence and the Rhône Valley, the estate crafts characterful wines with respect for nature, time, and winemaking expertise.

The History of Le Garrigon

Five generations of winemakers united by a shared passion since 1919. The adventure began in the aftermath of World War I. Raoul Couston, our great-grandfather, decided with his father to transform the family broom factory into a winery. In Tulette, they built their first concrete vats with their own hands, hauling gravel from the river by hand using a simple horse-drawn cart.

Initially purchasing grapes from across the Rhône Valley, they gained an intimate understanding of the terroirs. This expert insight allowed them, over the decades, to select the most exceptional plots to form the current vineyard. After thirty years of dedication, Marie-Françoise and Daniel Couston passed the torch to Lionel and their cousin Damien in 2025. Today, Le Garrigon remains a family affair where talents come together to enhance this living heritage.

The Philosophy of Garrigon

Cultivating harmony between the vineyard and its environment.

Certified organic for nearly 30 years, the estate places respect for all living things at the heart of its priorities. Our practices are gentle and thoughtful: we do not seek to force nature, but rather to reveal the authenticity of our terroir.

biodiversity

We preserve untouched pockets of nature, which serve as true refuges for birds, bees, and insects.

precision

Thanks to the expertise passed down from our elders, each grape variety is paired with its ideal plot to fully express its character, ensuring the balance and finesse of our wines.

soil health

The vitality of our soil is maintained exclusively through natural amendments.

Winemaking at Le Garrigon

The art of letting nature express itself

In the winery, we carry on our grandparents’ philosophy: simplicity and respect for the fruit. Thanks to its unique microclimate, Garrigon enjoys an early harvest, providing us with healthy grapes at optimal ripeness.

“Sometimes, the greatest skill lies in knowing when not to intervene.”

Only the finest berries are selected after rigorous sorting. Winemaking in stainless steel tanks is minimalist (7 to 15 days), and the use of oenological additives is kept to the bare minimum. Each grape variety is vinified separately to preserve its identity: the warmth of Grenache, the structure of Syrah, and the aging potential of Mourvèdre.

Aging prioritizes purity:

• Natural clarification through successive rackings.

• Sulfur-free wines: simply filtered and bottled in the spring.

• Classic wines: minimal sulfiting and bottling after a few months of rest in traditional tanks, thus preserving the terroir’s vibrancy.

The Garrigon Terroir

A unique 60-hectare estate in a single block

Located in the town of Visan, in the heart of the garrigue that once housed ancient truffle groves, the estate enjoys an exceptional location. Our 60 hectares in a single block form a natural barrier that protects our vines from any outside contamination.

This predominantly stony clay-limestone terroir, combined with ideal exposure and the purifying effects of the Mistral wind, offers the perfect conditions for producing red wines of great distinction.
